Imagine the unthinkable happens and John McCain wins our nomination AND the general election. When people with political vision look at a general election , they ask "did he have coattails?" In other words, they want to know if the Presidential candidate in that party brought out enough of the party faithful to get other Republicans elected.
If Senator McCain were able to win the Presidency it WON'T be due to heavy conservative Republican turnout. It would be due to moderate crossover votes. This presents a dilemma to the Republican party. These moderate and crossover votes would DESTROY the rest of the ticket! This means the Democrats would increase their margins in the House and the Senate.
A McCain candidacy would grievously damage the Republican Party! Think about it folks.
