Republican Civil War, A Call To Action!

A war has been declared on Conservatives. Only this time it's not just the Democrats.
Our Republican party is under ASSAULT from liberals and "moderates", and it's an assault from within. Governors like Florida's Charlie Crist, who's ONLY claim to conservatism is that he's a tax cutter and Governor Arnold "the Terminator" in CA, who has caved to liberals so often that he might as well switch parties are gaining more and more power at the expense of us Reagan conservatives.

To make it even uglier, John McCain and Mike Huckabee are sounding like left-leaning populists on the stump, instead of tax cutting conservative unifiers. Ronald Reagan would weep over the class warfare these two perpetuate!

These RINOS and an entire "herd" of other liberal Republicans are presently attempting what can only be called a "palace coup" by coming out in DROVES to endorse John McCain over Mitt Romney. Mitt's not a perfect Reaganite, but he may be the most talented and qualified Presidential candidate to seek the office in a generation. And for those who are worried about Mitt's conservative credentials, it's instructive to pay attention to his enemies. If the far left and New York Times hates his guts, and George Soros funded websites spend time and energy disseminating misinformation about Mitt, well that sorta tells the story for me. I'm for Mitt!

Here's my proposal. Individuals like us can do very little to change things by ourselves, but if we can get two or more of us--as many as possible--to REALLY beat the drums for Romney and against McCain before Super Tuesday we MAY have some effect on a few states. We must work hard to stop this power grab by liberals in our party. There's no need for profanity against Senator McCain, just expose his liberal record and his backstabbing ways against everything conservative that's happened in the Senate. We can use our own blogs, Frontpage Magazine and other conservative sites to get the word out.

What's at stake? Nothing less than the future of the Republican Party as a home, and refuge for those of us who believe in:
* smaller government and greater freedom
* vigorously defending America against those who want us dead
* a culture of LIFE instead of a culture of death
* defending our borders against an invasion of unassimilated Hispanic hordes
* honoring America as a unique experiment in human freedom
* defending our Constitution against those who view it as a living, breathing document and would use unelected, unaccountable leftist judges to change it on a whim
* the amazing power of free markets and capitalism as the "engine" of our freedom
JUST TO NAME A FEW!

Let me know what you think. If you like the idea PLEASE contact conservative friends and family and bloggers and run this by them. We have four days to stop this and the "mainstream" media is positively giddy about McCain. We are in a fight for the control of our own party, and so far only the liberals know it! Thanks.

Sincerely,
Morgan

Florida Republicans Beware of R.I.N.O. Herds!

John (Juanito) McCain has gotten the endorsements of big RINO (Republicans in Name Only) politicians in the state of Florida, from Senator Mel "I ran as a Conservative" Martinez to Charlie "Global Warming Wacko" Crist. He nearly got the endorsement of TED KENNEDY, but the swimmer opted to endorse Barack Obama instead.

Mitt Romney has gotten the endorsements of the vast majority of Florida's county sheriffs, mayors, business leaders and corporate titans. In other words, Mitt got the people who make this state WORK and keep us SAFE!

John McCain has a congressional record of illegal alien AMNESTY, resistance to tax cuts, GUTTING our freedom of speech with McCain-Feingold, STICKING IT to conservatives, and crossing the ailse to help Democrats pass liberal legislation. That's the truth, check it out.

Mitt has a spectacular record of ACHIEVEMENT in the private sector and as a governor of Massachusetts. He is quite simply THE most qualified candidate and leader in this race.

Amy D. Goldstein has a wonderful article that sums up Mitt's record at the American Thinker, "Why They Hate Mitt." After reading the article, you'll know what I mean.

Thanks for your time,
Morgan

1-27, Auschwitz and Islam

Auschwitz and Islam by John McDonald

On the morning of January 27, 1945, while the Second World War was racing to its final, cataclysmic end, Red Army soldiers stood outside of the gates of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp in eastern Poland and became the first humans to glimpse Hell. Stretching out for what seemed like miles in every direction were row after row of wooden barracks,  enclosed and surrounded by double and triple layers of barbed-wire fencing and guard towers with machine-guns.

The whole scene resembled a small city, complete with a set of railroad tracks that ran beside the long platform and ended at the gate at which they stood. Above the gate was a curious inscription in German, "Arbeit Macht Frei", or "work makes freedom.''

Having met no resistance and seeing no sign of activity the soldiers fanned out through the camp and soon came across, seemingly everywhere, in store-rooms and warehouse, piles and heaps of suitcases, neatly packed with their owners names on the outside. There were piles of clothes, shoes, rings, eyeglasses, pocket watches, shaving kits, combs and brushes--things many of the deprived Russians soldiers considered luxuries. Disturbingly they also found piles of human hair and the battle-hardened soldiers noticed the wind carried the stench of burnt flesh. At last, strange, skeletal, emaciated figures appeared in ragged, stripped clothes, starring dead-eyed at them.

"What is this place , where are the Germans?'', asked the soldiers. "And who owns all that property we saw and where have they gone"? It was then the prisoners told them they were in Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp, the Germans had evacuated the remaining 58,000 prisoners on forced death marches to the West, away from the advancing Red Army, they had survived by hiding from the guards and 'where had the others gone'?

Motioning to a chimney in the distance the prisoner said "There''.

As patrols came back with reports of having found large under-ground gas chambers disguised as ''showers'' and crematoriums, the patrols also confirmed the area of Birkenau as the source of the stench. The dawning magnitude of what the Russians had stumbled upon became clear. For here in this single place, as the world would come to know in other camps across the Third Reich, historians estimate some one million people; mostly Jews, but also Christians, Gypsies, political prisoners, homosexuals, and the mentally and physically handicapped were systematically robbed of their humanity, their dignity, their possessions and ultimately their lives in mankind's greatest and most evil crime. They were gassed, their bodies cremated and their ashes scattered in the forests surrounding the camp.

I used this historical prologue to pose first a question, and to state what I believe to be an immutable truth.

Imagine if you had stood on that January morning , seeing Auschwitz, and imagine being told that what you were looking at was ''radical Nazism'', and was not representative of ''true Nazism."  What would you have thought?

The truth I wish to state is this: You cannot separate a founder from his movement or a phophet from his prophecy. They are one and the same. Auschwitz was the logical terminus for centuries of latent European anti-Semitism as was 9/11 the logical terminus of fourteen centuries of Islam. Both systems are and were murderous political ideologies that sought to dominate the world through aggressive warfare, to eliminate world Jewry and destroy any and all who would oppose them.

Does this mean that those Germans, who were after all Christians, are lock-step murderers? Putting aside the brave few who spoke out, yes it does. Every German who followed Hitler and the Nazis in all they did, made the Holocaust possible. You couldn't listen today to someone who claims to be a Nazi and hear them say '' Nazism is peaceful'' as you watch violence carried out in the name of Nazism.

Mohammed was Islam's sole founder, it prophet, its voice. He commanded his followers to wage jihad--holy war--to bring all under its control and to kill the Jews wherever they found them. To follow Mohammed is to follow Islam. It isn't enough for ''moderate Muslims'' to denounce the slaughter committed in its name, it is Islam, like Nazism, that is the evil. As there was nothing redeeming in Hitler and Nazism, so is there nothing redeemable in Islam or Mohammed. The words and deeds of these two men--Adolph Hitler and Mohammed--have murderously and profoundly impacted humanity in such horrendous ways and should serve as a warning to the world of the danger of those who consider themselves ''prophets'' and to those who would become its adherents.

Nazism is gone and Islam is still with us, still threatening and still killing. As long as those who continue to follow Mohammed's teachings commit violence in its name while their fellow Muslims say little or nothing to condemn it,  Auschwitz's legacy will always be us and so will 9/11!

Is Edwards Exiting Soon?

Robert Novak reported in his article today, "Attorney General Edwards" that if Barack Obama is elected he will name John Edwards as Attorney General. Aside from the unmitigated disaster this would be for American business life and freedom FROM workforce unionization, it seems like a very smart strategic move from team Obama.

1. This would allow Barack HUSSEIN Obama to wrap up even more critical union backing in the form of endorsements, campaign workers, and deep pocket contributions. The unions LOVE John Edwards and his backing of Obama could do the trick. This is CRITICAL for Barack to beat the Clintons.
2. Although John Edwards is running a weak third place right now, his support is far more loyal to his hard left anti-corporate, frothing-at-the-mouth, class warfare message. They are also very anti-Hillary because they don't trust her as a "class warrior."

If Edwards endorses Obama, expect AT LEAST two-thirds of his voters to support Barack; possibly more. It seems maybe Barack is more formidable than we thought...Stay tuned!

True Conservatives Have a New Leader!

I attended  Mitt's Romney's rally last Saturday night here in Jacksonville, Florida. Over 800 people braved the driving rain and tornado warnings to pack the UNF library auditorium. Many were people just like myself, conservative admirers of men like Fred Thompson and Duncan Hunter, who are TREMENDOUSLY worried that the party is being overrun by liberal open borders advocates like John McCain and fast-talking half-conservatives like Mike Huckabee. Let's also accept a few truths about Ron Paul, and yes--Alan Keyes.

1. For whatever reason, neither has caught fire and neither will win the nomination.

2. Since #1 is a fact and not an opinion, we conservatives must behave like adults and not petulant children. When you pout and go home because you don't like anyone but your guy, or maybe you don't like Mormons, you are IN FACT partially responsible for enabling the election of a Democrat socialist to the highest office in the land. Like it or not that's the same mindset you can read at dailycos or democratic underground on any given day.

We conservatives are adults who care too deeply for the welfare of this great Republic to behave in such a manner.

So what did I see last Saturday night? I saw an inspiring, brilliant, proven, physically fit, solidly conservative candidate who can beat EITHER of the Democrat socialist candidates! Mitt is the LAST real conservative in the race who can unite the party and beat back the red tide of Hillary/Bill Clinton or Barack Hussein Obama.

Here are a few highlights from the speech:

--Mitt wants to SHUT DOWN THE BORDER ASAP! No to Amnesty and YES on building a wall!

--Mitt wants to keep the current tax cuts going AND eliminate the death tax, the AMT, and drastically cut red tape and government intereference in American business life. He's a tax cutter. As he asked the crowd, "does government create or destroy wealth? Does government create or destroy JOBS?" He said it's vital to keeping America competitive and our economy the envy of the world.

--Mitt plans to increase military spending and KEEP radical Muslims on the defensive and off balance. As he said, "if you attack America you invite you own  destruction!"

--Mitt assured me personally after the event, "NOBODY will seize your personal weapons when I'm the President."

Ladies and gentlemen we conservatives have a new leader. The question is, will YOU follow Mitt to victory or stay home and accept a Democrat socialist President?

Let's support Mitt and beat back the Democrat red tide!

A Winning Strategy For Conservatives.

Those who refuse to learn from history are  bound to repeat CLINTON ADMINISTRATIONS!! The last time we conservatives failed to get our "act" together far too many refused to vote for George H.W. Bush, and instead cast their ballots for Ross Perot or stayed home altogether. In case you can't hear me, come a little closer.

YOU GAVE US EIGHT YEARS OF BILL CLINTON!!!

Here's a strategy to help us Conservatives avoid that same disaster in this election. Vote with your heart (or pull for your guy) for the next two primaries in Nevada and South Carolina and see if your candidate--my favorite is Fred Thompson--prevails or comes in a very strong second in the national polls.

If, after that time your favorite cannot crack the top two, we MUST back MITT ROMNEY with all our might! That means calls to radio talk shows, blog support, yard signs, letters to the Editor, or all of the above.

Here's why. On the whole Mitt's a strong conservative and OBVIOUSLY a good campaigner with an unlimited war chest. These are VITAL to beating either of the Democrat socialists. The one thing that angers us the most about President Bush is his willingness to cave to Democrat socialists on so many issues and his stubborn refusal to close the border. We won't have these problems with Mitt.

With either McCain or Huckabee we would be tormented by a President who's perfectly comfortable making budget deals with Harry Reid, Chuck Schumer, and Ted Kennedy, and happy to let Nancy Pelosi resume her "detente" with terrorist states. And believe me, BOTH McCain and Huckabee would cede a great deal of American sovereignty to the United Nations. They both admire the United Nations.
John McCain and Mike Huckabee have one foot in the Democrat camp.

Once again. If your candidate refuses to catch fire in the next week to ten days, JUMP ON THE MITT BANDWAGON. It may be the only chance we have to avert a socialist Clinton or Obama Administration.

Thanks,
Morgan

A Smart Woman's View of Hillary

Much has been said about Hillary Clinton. Some of the very people who say they're voting for her because she's the first viable female candidate, wouldn't dream of casting that same vote for Elizabeth Dole or Condi Rice. Hillary's political extremism goes all the way back to her days of doing pro-bono legal work for the Black Panthers and her ideological tutelage under the radical Saul Alinsky.

My good friend--and brilliant conservative analyst--Donal (VerityINK), has taken the time to respond to a CommentaryMag.com article entitled "Competitive Victimization", which explores the female versus race card being played out in the Clinton-Obama primary contest. Her insightful political blog, the DU d'RAT Review, is listed on my homepage.

Donal takes a close look at the woman who would be President and asks the timely question:
"What is Hillary actually good at?" Enjoy---

My Response:   (to the article "Competitive Victimization")

Of course I would be just as offended by giving a 'free pass' to an 'inexperienced, unvetted, unscrutinized' white female--simply because she WAS female, too. Being ubiquitous is not the same as being experienced. Being shooed-in is not the same as being vetted. Being in the spotlight is not the same as being scrutinized.

I don't think Obama is unfairly using the race card. Actually, it's to his credit that he's not used it much at all. Just because Hillary SAYS he's used it--and then has offered her response--doesn't mean that it has actually been a weapon, only that she has managed to inoculate herself against such a charge in advance; it's political jujitsu.

What is Hillary actually good at doing? What have we seen her accomplish? Make your own list.

Here's mine:

1) She can manage a large group of people, set the tone, create or demand the atmosphere she wants. She can define a topic, mint a Vast Rightwing Conspiracy, coin the meme, set the lede. She can change climates, alter the subject, redirect and distract--make HER news BE the news. She has constructed a polical patter wherein people think she is addressing what is important to them, when she is really all about capturing what is important to her.

2) She can cow people, frighten them, manipulate them, intimidate them--make them unwilling to act as they would in front of her. She can make her agenda more important than anyone else's. She is not afraid, and even seems to enjoy, making people pay the price for thinking otherwise. There's an unsettling noblesse oblige about even her most generous acts; one can't quite remove any of them from the realm of underground--and sometimes the most shameless--manipulation. People are scared to cross her; people are afraid to tell her 'no'.

3) She can impart the idea that she is better than the average person--even better than the person she is talking to while she is talking to them--and thus, is entitled to do, or receive, or be, something that the 'ordinary American' is not. She can make people think she has thought about things more than they have--and that thinking makes her entitled to go on thinking about them, and make decisions about them--even if they affect huge numbers of people who may not agree with her and don't want it.

4) She has managed to use being female for the positives she's wanted--seeming 'maternal' by having Chelsea, playing the 'good wife' by 'standing by her man', excoriating his accusers, writing smarmy 'It Takes A Villiage' books, tearing up, playing 'you-can't-hit-the-girl', etc.--without ever being beset or burdened with a woman's true feelings, or humanity, or love. (Who can name one person she has ever acted like she's loved?) There's a positive dearth of emotions in her. She is judgmental and harsh--and those judgements have an entirely self-focused frame of reference.

She 'loves' those who can help her get what she wants--and she will ignore or destroy those who do not. She does things to get what SHE wants. She plays the victim just well enough to elicit sympathy, but not so much as to make herself seem powerless. This is one of her most successful attributes, allowing her to never be placed into the 'little woman' or 'dumb blonde' camp.

5) She has constructed a veneer under which people feel they 'know' her--or knows what she 'really' thinks. Thus, her landscape of lies, evasions, untruths, exaggerations, misrepresentations is all-too-readily pushed aside and ignored by her constituents. I don't know how they rationalize her many, many missteps--but they do.

The only working feedback loop she has is 'Is my behavior--right or wrong--getting me what I want?" If it is, she continues and ramps it up, if it is not, she either changes tactics, blames someone else, or attacks. Morals, ethics, what's-best-for-others is successfully weeded out of her thought processes. She is never called on to account for any of the things she has done wrong. The only consequences she has ever suffered is bad press or diminished votes. The bad press she blames on their bad character, the diminished votes she blames on ours (or her opponents). NOT a good system whereby to check one's own behavior, take the measure of oneself, and possibly do better.

6) On the plus side, she is capable of hard work (to get what she wants), she is organized, she is determined, and--as long as she is ascendant--she is optimistic.

I am not sure if these things recommend her well for the presidency. All of her cleverness, her ability to connect with people, her capacity for hard work, her ability to set the pace for things--determine an agenda and see it through--are being focused down the very narrow well of getting her what she wants--the rest of us be damned.

Being female doesn't help her. Indeed, I think she'd have been much happier being a man and heading for things straight on, without any fluffy concerns about 'village' children, or being likeable, or 'supporting the sisterhood'. In Hillary, I see no true ability to unite people, work with others--or implement an agenda with which she does not agree even if, or especially, if it is the best solution to a problem. Hillary wants what will fulfill her goals first; I don't like to think about what happens to those who don't share them.

In a world that still sees Nancy Pelosi nannily head-scarfed, Condoleeza Rice being careful whose hand she shakes, and some delegates using the servant's entrance to a world summit, middle east tensions can easily reduce Hillary's agenda to that of 'just another lowly woman'.

With all her obsessive self-focus, I see the day when, if Hillary is elected, the mullahs and A'Jad's and Saudi princes of the world turn to the Vice President and expect to conduct the real business with him. And, no, that isn't all Hillary's fault. However, the same greedy lunge for power, and the self-centered pursuit of her own ideals, can too-readily make her blind to reality--and to too many other things.

Hillary IS 'inexperienced, unvetted, and unscrutinized' as a leader. The things she does well have more potential to do well only for her. In order to best represent America, and keep us safe in today's world, we need more than just a selfish figurehead. The tiara on Queen Hillary's head may do a lot for her; what's it going to do for us?

What Pursuit of Happiness?

There are a number of ideas that seem to be fading from the American consciousness. Namely, the pursuit of happiness, lassez-faire and federalism. All three are related in an important way.

Federalism is the idea that the federal government has strictly limited powers and the lion's share of governance is pushed to the most local government possible and at the state, or even better, the community level.

Federalism works something like this; America has historically been a loosely knit federation of somewhat disparate groups that all share a common love of liberty. Quakers, the Amish, southern agrarians, industrialists, Catholics and protestants, groups of all kinds, etc., etc. were all able to settle in their own communities and largely govern their own schools, churches, communities as they saw fit.

Which dovetails nicely into the pursuit of happiness. Why shouldn't the Amish be able to live they way want, strange as it may seem to the rest of us? Or black communities that enjoy their own cultural roots? As it is, we're concentrating more power to the highest levels of government, not the lowest. Soon 51% of us will determine and regulate the other 49%. And that system will make the most people the least happy. Federalism, by respecting real diversity (not the bastardized lefty version of it), allows the most people to be the most happy.

Which brings us into meshing in the idea of lassez-faire. In French it literally means "allow to act". In other words, live and let live or mind your own business. We don't all have to regulate or coerce each other into our way of thinking.

But that's not where we're heading. Increasingly we're all becoming involved with interest groups. At the lowest level, shrub nazis (homeowners associations) tell us what color we can paint our houses all the way to the federal government who seeks to confiscate a greater share of our earnings and property, we are increasingly being told how we should UNIFORMLY behave under penalty of law. This is totally out of sync with the notion of lassez-faire - allow to act.

Relating this to modern politics, we should all keep it on our radar screens. Avoid the left because they want to enforce their will on us all, regardless of our natural differences. But watch some conservatives as well. Some of them masquerade wrapped in the flag but equally want to impose their will on others.

Lastly, an anecdote. I've been fortunate that I've done a fair amount of business travel throughout the country in my life. One weekend while in New Orleans I decided to go find some real Cajuns (there ain't many in New Orleans), I trekked out by myself out to the southern Louisiana bayou way out to Lafourche, Huma and Layfayette where some real cajuns live. What an incredible and friendly people. I had a wonderful time. Real Cajun food is unbelievably good and they even talked me into some delicious alligator snapping turtle soup. Along with the terrific Cajun music, I was in heaven.

The point is, we really are a diverse people and we're better off for it. Who wants the gray sameness of downtown Leningrad? Our success as a nation is because of the competition of ideas and our freedom to pursue them. Not every way is the best way, but without different ways we'll never find the best path.

Federalism - the pursuit of happiness - lassez-faire.

Think about it.

Mike

Mike is one of the frequent posters at David Horowitz's political blog FrontPage magazine.com. He is a good friend and one of the smartest conservative libertarians I've ever known. His  thought piece on the pursuit of happiness reminded me of something my father told me years ago in Suck Creek, Tennessee, just outside of Chattanooga.

We were driving to an outdoor shooting range on top of Raccoon Mountain along the banks of the gorgeous Tennessee River and admiring the big, beautiful log homes on the banks of the river. And there it was! The ugliest run down trailer I'd ever seen, sitting on about 3 acres of riverfront property. Out front was a washer and dryer, a pickup truck and station wagon on blocks, loose chickens, and a full clothes line. Next to the river was a dock and a pile of tires!

I immediately said to my dad, "Jesus H. Christ why don't they make him clean up that mess!?"

My father's response has stuck with me to this day.
He said, "you know that family's been on that piece of land for over 100 years. Once upon a time they owned ALL of the land fronting the river for two miles in each direction all the way to the Suck (fast flowing creek). Over time they have sold parcels of land to the people who built all of those pretty homes that we've passed. As far as I know, they're not poor, they all have good jobs with the railroad. They just live in that ramshakle trailor BECAUSE THAT'S THE WAY THEY WANT TO LIVE! Every time I pass that third-world looking dump I thank G-d that it hasn't been bulldozed."

Why, I asked? He told me that these people were living the American dream. They owned their own property, worked hard, obeyed the law and depended on no one! To my father this family was the proverbial canary-in-the-coal-mine of property rights. As long as they lived unmolested by the neighbors and city, his G-d given rights as an American were probably safe too.

Just something more to think about.

America Under Siege

America is under siege from all directions. Allah’s gangsters wish to kill, convert, or beat us into submission, semi-literate Hispanic hordes swarm across our southern border in violation of our immigration laws, the leftist “mainstream media” undermines America’s best interests daily, while our universities actively tout the depraved teachings of Marx and Engels. Finally, Congress overcomplicates our tax code to award the highest bidders and buy the votes of the rest.

They all present a clear and present danger to the United States of America and our unique experiment in human freedom.

Contrary to popular opinion the Islamo-fascist war on America did not begin on September 11, 2001. President Thomas Jefferson was the first to deal with Muslims hell-bent on destruction and slave trading when he waged war on the Barbary Pirates. This Founding father understood that ignoring aggression only emboldens the perpetrator and invites more destruction.

Whether we like it or not, this is a war of civilizations: Western Civilization and the Judeo-Christian heritage versus a way of life lifted straight out of the desert of 7th century Arabia. Retreating from the battlefields of Iraq is not a viable option, it’s pure suicide born of cowardice, nihilism, and multiculturalism. It comes down to a battle of wills. Cutting and running from the fight would have catastrophic consequences for our future.

Our roaring economy and perpetual hunger for cheap labor has lead to our second biggest problem. We are ignoring the Mexican invasion. As Americans we’ve been given the greatest inheritance: A Constitutional Republic based on the rule of law with individual human freedom as the highest value. We stand on the backs of giants, from Mosaic Law to Athenian Democracy, to Rousseau and Locke; our forefathers saw to it that America was the crown jewel of Western civilization.

When we allow unassimilated Hispanic hordes to invade in staggering numbers without even learning the language we invite our own destruction! Is it asking too much to demand that we control immigration? Do we really want to become Northern Mexico? After all, this Mexican culture thing has worked so well for them, why wouldn’t we copy their wonderful way of life? How do you say, omni-present corruption in Espanol?

The sooner we build a double wall from San Diego to Brownsville the better. Our American culture is a vital component of our amazing prosperity and overall way of life and it needs to be protected from unassimilated hordes.

The so-called mainstream media and a majority of academia are at war with America. They have an alternative vision for America based on a leftist/utopian worldview that not only doesn’t work, it has been shown to impoverish and terrorize entire nations. The New York Times and the Ward Churchills of the world seem to be the rule rather than the exception these days. This has been chronicled in depth on such venues as talk radio and websites like Fire Society and Front Page Magazine.

We also have another “sword of Damocles” hanging over America’s future. Our tax code stinks to high heaven and it must be eliminated before it’s too late. We absolutely must convert to some form of consumption tax and the FairTax seems to be the best option.

The FairTax is a 23% inclusive sales tax on all new goods and services. Used items are excluded from this tax. When the FairTax Bill (HR 25) is passed it will repeal the individual income tax, the alternative minimum tax (AMT), corporate and business income taxes, capital gains taxes, Social Security taxes, Medicare taxes and all other federal payroll taxes, self-employment tax, estate “death” taxes, and gift taxes. All of these taxes will be eliminated before the FairTax is implemented.

Approximately 23% of the price of all goods and services is due to taxation in the production process. This cost is known as “embedded taxes.” The FairTax would remove these embedded taxes and replace them with a 23% consumption tax. It will not cause prices to rise because it is not an additional tax

It is not a value added (VAT) tax, nor was it started by a bunch of couch-jumping Scientologists, nor would it be inflationary in the least, prices would remain the same. Two groups of people will be hurt by this new system of taxation: Politicians who wield power and buy votes by tweaking the income tax system, and K-street lobbyists who make enormous incomes gaming the current tax code for the benefit of their clients. There has been a tidal wave of misinformation about the FairTax recently. When you hear strenuous objections to the FairTax, know that it’s probably coming from one of those two groups or people associated with them. As the FairTax people like to say, “let’s make April 15 just another beautiful spring day!”

It’s said, that upon exiting the Constitutional Convention Benjamin Franklin was approached by a group of people inquiring about the form of government that the delegates had created. This was his answer: “A republic, if you can keep it.” Folks we need to stand up and defend our beloved America, she deserves it!

Gas Price Lies!

America's politicians truly think we are a collection of abject idiots! Their utter contempt for our intelligence is becoming more evident by the day, especially where gasoline prices are concerned. Recently the U.S. House of Representatives started hearings on H.R. 1252, a House bill that would make gas price gouging a federal crime, punishable by 10 years in prison. Speaker Pelosi (the bug-eyed hippie from Haight-Ashbury) has already promised to fast track this legislation through the U.S. House. Yes, Nancy's radical--and not very bright--but she is smart enough to realize that her constituency doesn't understand what causes gas prices to fluctuate. God forbid that she should be honest with San Francisco's voters! My own "beloved" populist RINO Governor of Florida, Charlie Crist, called for Congressional investigations into "possible excessive profiteering" by the oil companies. They KNOW the truth.

Let's settle this gasoline price issue once and for all. When you fill up your car or truck, the price that you pay per gallon is the result of supply and demand, competition, and last but not least: exorbitant state and federal taxes. And here's a shocker, the same politicians who call for price gouging investigations into the oil companies are the ones MOST responsible for the jacked-up prices. Government profit from taxing gas is more than TWICE what is raked in by "big oil." The U.S Energy Information Administration charts tell the story. The occupants of the smoke-filled rooms are Senators and Representatives, not oil guys.

Oil and gas are commodities. Supply and demand are the most important factors determining the pre-tax price of both. If the world oil supply increases marginally and demand increases faster, the price will go up in a commensurate fashion. That's the world's present situation. With the vast increase in demand coming from China and India, the price for a barrel of oil has been rising. So the oil companies are paying more for a barrel of oil. Demand is outpacing supply.

Our economy is smoking and Americans are driving more than ever. These are GREAT economic signs, but they come at the same time (early summer) as a relative gasoline shortage. Again, demand is UP, supply is DOWN, and this forces the price of gasoline.... up! There is no apocryphal conspiracy here, just the simple laws of supply and demand. Why did the gas supply go down?

There are two factors that affect the gas supply. Municipalities across America demand different blends starting in late spring and early summer to control smog and air pollution levels. Some refineries have to shut down and retool every year to produce these "boutique blends" of fuel. This interruption alone results in supply shortages and is made even WORSE by the fact that environmentalists have led the charge in blocking the construction of new refineries since the 1970's! This is a national security issue folks.

Competition is the last significant factor in gas prices and the one we consumers understand the best. That final 10 cents in the price of a gallon is the result of one station owner trying his best to beat the guy down the street. They don't make much on gas, the store uses it's gas to get you to buy beer, silly lighters, and Doritos! Competition keeps local prices as low as they can possibly be.

So when politicians lie to you about the big, mean, greedy oil companies “hosing” the consumer, just remember that the price of gas is determined by supply and demand, state and federal taxes, and local competition. Remember who those politicians are, and SEND THE LIARS PACKING COME NEXT ELECTION FOR INSULTING YOUR INTELLIGENCE!!

To Heck With the Raft, Pass the Sun Block!

Liberals and radical leftists are using "man-made global warming" as a vehicle to grab more power from freedom loving Americans. It's a Trojan Horse full of socialist policies and government restrictions on your life, with the stated purpose of reducing our contribution to greenhouse gas production. The leftist Pied Pipers of global warming doom, henceforth known as "warmistas", want us Americans to drastically alter our lifestyles to reduce our collective "carbon footprint." Don't expect warmistas like Al Gore (the Goreacle), John Kerry, Sheryl Crow or ANY Hollywood dimwit to give up THEIR private jets! For that they have devised a way of buying absolution for their carbon "sins". They're called carbon offsets and carbon credits. Would you like to purchase them? Contact the Goreacle, he owns the company!

To be sure, the Earth has in fact warmed by approximately one degree F over the last 100 years and most warmistas believe that man has caused this slight warming. Just in case this turns around-look at last winter-the warmistas have that base covered too. As I write they are desperately trying to change the name of the cause celebre to "climate change." That way no matter WHAT happens temperature-wise they will push onerous government regulations and socialism in the form of higher taxes as the cure. After all it would be foolish to place all of your totalitarian eggs one "warm" basket.

Wei-Hock (Willie) Soon and Sally Baliunas are two of the world's foremost astrophysicists. Willie Soon is with the Solar and Stellar Physics division of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics and has testified at length to Congress on the subject of global warming. Sally Baliunas works at the George C. Marshall Institute. Together they have compiled reams of data and created charts that point to one unmistakable conclusion: There is a DIRECT correlation between increased solar activity and land temperatures in the Northern Hemisphere. The Southern Hemisphere has shown such a small increase that it may be nothing more than statistical "noise." The increased solar activity takes the form of mass solar ejections (those huge flares), and more significantly magnetic storms on the surface, also known as "sunspots." This direct correlation goes just as far back into antiquity as we are able to measure. More sunspots equal a warmer earth, period. I doubt even a warmista would make the argument that American SUVs and Chinese smokestacks are causing increased sunspot activity, but you never know with them!

Mars is experiencing a far more dramatic temperature increase than the Earth. Increased solar activity has caused larger temperature increases on Mars due to the weak Martian magnetic field and thin atmosphere. The carbon dioxide (CO2) ice caps near Mars’ south pole have diminished radically for at least three consecutive summers. This is data from NASA’s Mars Global Surveyor and Odyssey missions. Habibullo Abdussamatov, head of space research at St. Petersburg’s Pulkovo Astronomical Observatory in Russia believes that increased solar activity accounts for nearly ALL of the temperature increases that we see on both planets. Do they have SUV’s on Mars?

So how do we explain the increased levels of greenhouse gases? Let’s use CO2 and methane as examples. It appears to many researchers that increased levels of these greenhouse gases are a “lagging factor”, which means that they came AFTER the earth started to warm. Violent magnetic storm cycles cause the Earth to warm a little, and that temperature increase causes more vegetation to grow on land and more blue-green algae and seaweed in the oceans. As this vegetation rots it gives off CO2 and methane as it “passes” through animals. Our total contribution to CO2 levels amounts to less than 3%, and for that Sheryl Crow wants to limit you to ONE piece of toilet paper per wipe! No wonder Lance Armstrong dumped her.

There is speculation that the most important of all the greenhouse gases is the one which we have absolutely no control over, water vapor. The effects of evaporation and cloud cover are still largely unknown, although water vapor is definitely a greenhouse gas and probably the most important. A hotter Sun results in more evaporation and more rain which should be a boon to the Canadian marijuana crop.

Those of you over age fifty may remember the April 28, 1975 edition of Newsweek Magazine. It was entitled “The Cooling World.” Global cooling was the leftist scare back then and they claimed it was being caused by our use of fossil fuels. Imagine my surprise! Ironically, significant global cooling truly would be a disaster as it has been in the past. You’d think that anyone with even a modicum of intellectual skepticism (and access to Google) would think REALLY hard before buying into the OPPOSITE story in the same lifetime!

Here’s the bottom line folks. It’s becoming increasingly clear that man’s contribution to global warming is so tiny that it’s statistically insignificant. As presented by Al Gore, the idea of man-made global warming descends to the level of a cult-like new religion or even a Vaudeville freak show. PT Barnum once said, “A sucker is born every minute.” At least when Al Gore’s movie is playing, we’ll know where to find them!

Pay Attention Conservatives!

Governor Mike Huckabee and Senator John McCain are now on the verge of taking the first two primary states. Huckabee is in a dead heat or even slightly ahead of Mitt Romney in Iowa, while McCain’s momentum may carry him to victory in New Hampshire. A victory for either of these candidates would be a dagger to the heart of freedom-loving, limited government, fiscal conservatives who want to secure America’s borders.

Criticizing Governor Mike Huckabee doesn’t come easy to a FairTax advocate like myself. After all he’s shown great courage by adopting the FairTax as a major part of his fiscal platform. The messenger in this case is fatally flawed. He shamelessly panders to whichever audience he happens to be speaking.

I watched the Oct.9, CNBC/ Wall Street Journal debate from Dearborn, Michigan. The audience had a healthy number of out-of-work union members who are largely responsible for Michigan’s economic woes. Michigan is currently an economic basket case and much of the blame can be placed at the doorstep of the United Auto Workers. Consider this exchange from the closing minutes of the debate:

Chris Matthews: Are the unions good for America?

Mike Huckabee: The real fact is, unions are going to take a more prominent role in the future for one simple reason: A lot of American workers are finding that their wages continue to get strapped lower and lower while CEO salaries are higher and higher. And the reality is that when you have the average CEO salary 500 times the average worker, and you have the hedge fund manager making 2200 times that of the average worker, you’re going to create a level of discontent that’s going to create a huge appetite for unions. So unions are the natural result of workers finally saying, “Look, I can’t go from a $70,000 a year job to a $15,000 a year job and feed my family of four.” That’s when unions are going to come back in roaring form.

Aside from the fact that Governor Huckabee’s answer is pure, unadulterated economic populist tripe, am I the only one who wanted to shout, “why do you think that worker lost the $70,000 a year job in the first place?” His class warfare answer was unworthy of a fiscal conservative and has a natural home in the Democrat party.

Governor Huckabee also has a well-established soft spot for illegal aliens. As the governor of Arkansas he pushed for in-state tuition for illegal aliens and their children, and he continues to defend that misguided policy to this day. He also refuses to commit to building a double wall protecting our southern border. In other words, if he is elected the invasion will continue!

Mike Huckabee is just as cool and smooth as the other side of the pillow…and he’s a populist. What exactly are the core convictions of a man who shamelessly tells one crowd one thing, and another crowd something entirely different? Is there something tainted about the Hope, Arkansas municipal water supply?

Liberal newspapers far and wide have endorsed John McCain because he's easily the most liberal Republican in the field outside of the kook Ron Paul.

Conservatives like myself honor McCain for his heroic service in Viet Nam and at the same time want him nowhere near the White House for a long list of reasons:

1. He's done grievous damage to the 1st Amendment by co-authoring the McCain-Feingold BCFRA, also known absurdly as "campaign finance reform." It directly limits political free speech in the run up to an election. When the Founders wrote of free speech do you think they meant political elections? Or was it their intention to protect Robert Maplethorpe's bullwhip porno?

Why did he do it? The National Rifle Association was putting the heat on him during one of his re-elections because Senator McCain kept crawling into bed with the gun-grabbers on the political left. The NRA shone the light on his record and it made the Senator mad. So he and left-wing extremist Senator Russ Feingold co-authored the one piece of legislation that limited the free speech of everyday Americans while empowering foreign-born billionaires like George Soros. Thanks John! Many people think we should call McCain-Feingold the “Incumbent Protection Act." I couldn't agree more.

2. The terrorist detention facility at Guantanamo Bay has been one of our most effective weapons in the fight against Allah's gangsters. Three or four years ago when the New York Times and the entire left-wing press was in an uproar about the so-called "torture" we were supposedly engaging in at Gitmo, John McCain and his Republican In Name Only (RINO) buddies in the Senate wanted to shut down the facility. The truth is that he was courting his favorite constituency: The liberal press!
McCain couldn't care less that the intelligence we got from the terrorist animals held there was vital to our war effort. John got favorable press coverage and that's all that mattered to him! Until of course, he went into campaign mode. Then he reappeared as a hawk. Boy I'm convinced.

3. John McCain has opposed every attempt to shut the border with Mexico. He's absolutely in favor of an open border and co-sponsored the Amnesty Bill. We are being invaded and Senator McCain doesn't seem to care. He wants the votes of illegal aliens and the money that flows from the Arizona farmers and builders. That's all.

4. John McCain has undermined President Bush’s conservative agenda from the comfy confines of the Senate for about 5 1/2 years. John and the other RINOS joined forces with the Democrats regularly to frustrate the President. He finally backed off when he decided he would need conservative support for his Presidential campaign. That's why the liberal press adoringly called him a "maverick" and continues to endorse him to this day. It wasn't lost on us conservatives.

5. Last but not least, John McCain was never on board for the President's tax cuts. He has a thousand different excuses, but the fact is that he doesn't like the thought of individuals being able to keep more of the money that they earn! He loves the power that comes with high tax rates.

Ladies and gentlemen there are many things that matter to us as conservatives. If fiscal conservatism, securing the border, and regaining your 1st Amendment rights are among those issues you deem important, John McCain and Mike Huckabee must be stopped!
